Request a ConsultationA misaligned bite or crooked teeth can make patients feel they have to cover their mouth when smiling.

Children, teenagers, and adults can all benefit from orthodontic care at La Jolla Cosmetic Dentistry & Orthodontics, where we provide treatment rooms and services for your entire family. Rather than visit more than one orthodontist to accommodate you and your children, Dr. Kohani can provide comprehensive care to patients from all walks of life in need of braces.

How It Works
What Are My Orthodontic Treatment Options?
Consultation
Dr. Kohani and his team work together to create an environment that is comfortable for every patient. To help achieve this, we offer complimentary consultations where Dr. Kohani can evaluate the patient’s teeth to find any possible orthodontic problems. Parents are invited to sit in the examination room with their child during their consultation, and adults receiving treatment will experience high-class patient care.
Services For Children And Teens
For younger children, receiving orthodontic care can be crucial. During an appointment, Dr. Kohani will examine your child’s teeth and bite position, which will allow him to predict any orthodontic concerns that may occur when the permanent teeth begin to erupt.
If Dr. Kohani notices any abnormal alignment on the upper or lower teeth, he can suggest a preventative method of treatment. Usually, children who exhibit tooth crowding or a weak bite position are candidates for braces. Teenagers might consider Invisalign® for aesthetic reasons and if the parameters of their treatment plan allow it.
Services For Adults
As an adult, learning that you need orthodontic treatment may be the last thing you want to hear. Metal braces may be common among younger patients, but some adults may be disinclined to wear them. However, correcting your teeth and bite position is possible without detracting from your appearance.
Upon examination, Dr. Kohani may recommend accelerated adult orthodontics, which helps older patients improve the alignment of their teeth more efficiently than with traditional metal braces. The solution also offers more cosmetically appealing treatment methods, such as ceramic braces or Invisalign®.

Timeline
The length of time needed for your braces to fully correct your teeth or bite will be based on the severity of your misalignment. Most adult patients only typically need to wear braces for four to six months and usually never for more than a year. This is because Dr. Kohani only does accelerated orthodontics, which cuts back on the time of traditional braces.
-
Pain
Your mouth will feel slightly sore and uncomfortable as your teeth begin to move. Be sure you follow all instructions and avoid any foods that are hard or difficult to chew for the first few days to minimize any discomfort.
-
Cost
The cost of your orthodontic treatment will vary based on your treatment plan, the severity of your teeth, and your personal needs. During your complimentary consultation, you will be given a written treatment plan with any options you may have and an estimated cost.
-
Results
Once your braces are removed, you will immediately notice your teeth look straighter and healthier. You will also be given a retainer that should be worn every day for the first few months and nightly while you sleep after that.

Our patients LOVE us, and you will too!
I have been coming here for the past 2 years and everyone has been super nice and helpful. Definitely very knowledgable! They saved my teeth from wearing down, and have been super attentive and patient during my time with my braces.
Amazing guy and an amazing dentist. He makes going to the dentist not at all scary. Highly recommend him as he does great work.
Not only does my family go but our friends and their kids go to [Doctor Kohani]. He is NOT only a dentist, he is a true orthodontist, oral surgeon, humanitarian, and all around good guy. He has personally brought a disfigured at birth baby girl from Africa and her mother into his own home and arranged for a life-changing surgery for this child. He has a huge heart and a vast knowledge of his field. Also, he has a lecture once a week at UCLA because of his knowledge in dentistry and orthodontics. He is a true expert in his field.
